Those Poor People

It seems that I am sick and tired about hearing a lot of what I consider self-pitying arguments. Want to know what the latest one is? I will tell you…

“Well, the people in that country are poor and can’t do it for themselves so we have to help them.”

Wow… Let’s take a moment and think about American History… If anyone does not know it we were not always the superpower we are today. In fact for the first few hundred years we were just some lowly upstart colonists and not paid much attention to and certainly not helped in any way. We were just another backwater country and one that was considered very uncivilized. We were the poor and loathed of the world until about the late 19th century. Yes, it took us 350 years to really become anything that the world would consider a power at all. Even then, it was not until World War I that we made a difference on the world stage. But since then, well I do not need to tell you all about it.

So, we American started out with nothing. We came here and for a very long time we very nearly starved to death, even though the land was bountiful. But we worked the land, we made something of it and survived. We built wealth from the sweat of our brow, we did not ask for hand outs, and even if we did, who would have given it to us. Finally, in an act of economic survival we rebelled against the motherland and stated for ourselves the liberty and freedom we desired.

A new country of upstarts now formed we welcomed anyone here who would be productive and loyal to their adoptive country. The immigrants entered, signed the books and promised and pledged allegiance to their new home, ties to the homeland broken. They remembered their homeland for a generation or two and that gave our great country a flavor all its own. We were building a population base and needed all the workers we could get. That is not the case today however, we do not need more people, in fact we may have too many as it is. But the point is that we stood on our own two feet and with pride in our labors made our country what it is today.

History lesson over.

So, now we are faced with some very interesting choices. We see around the globe countries that “need help”. Maybe their populations are starving, maybe the current political atmosphere is oppressing the people. Maybe we are looking at them and want to help them. Maybe that is about the worst idea you can possibly come up with.

I hate to sound like a heartless son of a bitch, but let’s take a lesson from our own past. No one helped us, we are under no obligation to help them. Look how we turned out. Now, I know that the above sediment can incite some debate, but you know what I mean, we are a world power and have a high standard of living, and we did it on our own.

Now I recognize that some of you may say that we have a moral imperative to help some of these countries, maybe with direct aid (justifiable in times of natural disasters) or by letting them walk all over our economy (no way justifiable), but what is the cost to us, and them? We are alleviating the need for these countries to grow on their own. We are coddling them and giving them the fish, but not the pole or fishing lessons. These countries are going nowhere and with our help will never get anywhere.

History tells us that not all countries survive, that is why we have to change the maps so often. History tells us that countries with proactive populations do tend to survive. History tells us that foreign aid almost always kills the country that receives it.

So, what do we have? Well we have a harsh world that can not be fixed by liberal policy and generosity. We have a world ruled by Darwinian Dynamics and we have to watch it happen knowing that it is the way the nature creates strong countries and eliminates weak ones. We can not help everyone. With seven billion people on this planet, it is not possible given the infrastructure we have. The seven billion will have to help themselves even though we can now see their suffering in an age of instant communications.

Yes the beauty of our technology has brought us the brutality of nature and a scope to view the raw and vital cycles that shape the world we live in. It is a powerful scope indeed, one that most people cannot view without engaging in personally, but we must.

The first forty thousand years of human evolution were done without the lens of communications and progress was made. In fact many would argue that progress was made at an astonishingly rapid rate. So we must treat the dispassionate lens with the dispassion it deserves and not become involved in its both micro and macro view.

We are witnessing history like never before and like most natural cycles and events it is brutal and devastating. We cannot change it, we can only ride it out for ourselves. The trends and cycles are too large and forceful to stop by throwing a few dollars to a starving child in Central America or even allowing our economy and society to be compromised on the hope that change is possible. These actions would be isolated band-aids at best, at worst, they will kill people, both in the starving country and this country.

(Kill people in a foreign country you ask? Yep… tell you what… drop a load of food in the middle of a group of starving people, then tell me how many died in the rush to get the food. Want to place a wager that one of the dead is the starving child you wanted to help in the first place? Then in three weeks tell me how many more died waiting for another load of food that never came. The politics of hunger are the worst politics to play with. Better to turn a blind eye and understand it and know that nature is at work in its’ most brutal form.

Kill people in this country you ask? Yep… let’s assume that we allow everyone in this country and allow them to do whatever they want. Well, as they send the money out of this country it will create an inflationary economy. Goods and services will cost more and wages may or (more likely) may not keep up. A woman in a desperate straight cannot pay for her baby daughters formula. The child starves in this country. Now that is sad, but what does it matter, it is in this country and we are only looking at the poor and dying in other countries. Guess we forgot to take care of number one.)

So, what do we have… well we have a brutal world that has been this way from day one and we are just now seeing it in all its’ gory beauty. We are now smart enough to know that we are just elements in a much larger cycle that is subtle and brutal. Our decisions and action on a daily basis effect every element of the whole. When we buy a tray of shrimp from China, you are supporting the policies of that country. You buy some shoes made by child labor in El Salvador, you are starving a child in this country, maybe killing the kid in El Salvador as well (hey, the shoes are selling, the boss will work the kids more to make more profit. Kids die, but so what, there are more to take their place.) Everything is tied together, and nothing a single individual can do will fix it. In fact, the force for change must be found at the source and by the better part of the population. And for change to be made, the poor population may have to spill the blood of their own and their oppressors.

Those poor people, they have the potential in their own hands to be the next world power, the next shapers of the world. They just have to realize it and do it, and no amount of help in terms of money or aid will accomplish that.

Patriot Go Home

One more rant for the record. I hate people that come to this country just to bash it. You know who I am talking about. People that come here and wave the flag of their homeland and cry how great it is and how much America sucks.

You know what, to all those who do this… GO HOME. I for one have had enough of your hypocritical bullshit. You come to this country for something better, you get it and then complain that this country sucks? Just what will it take to make you happy? I am willing to guess… nothing. That being the case, GO HOME.

So many people come to this country now not to be a citizen, but rather to suck off the wealth of this country and send it abroad. They have no feelings for this country other than it is a teat for their countrymen to survive on. They do not want to be part of this melting-pot culture, just benefit from its’ economic bounty.

So, what do you call these “patriotic” demonstrations for another country within this one? I think the word for it is “sedition”, and while I do not think that there could be a mass movement in this country against this government, I do believe that it can rouse a lone gunmen to act in ways that will shock and amaze John Q Citizen.

You think this is paranoid? You may be right, but what if I am right? Do you want to live through the repercussions?

I have to laugh at this country sometimes for it’s lack of resolve. Immediately after 911 there was such a wave of war mongering and the public was four square behind it. Now that we are in it for a little while, we are cowards again and looking for a way out and convenient scapegoats. Do we really have the President to blame or should we be looking at ourselves? After all, we all wanted this and the President just reflected the wishes of the people of this country.

Now we have rebel rousers in our midst and we are actually listening to them. These are not even citizens and we are taking their “complaints” seriously? Are you kidding?

And now for the most absurd thing I have heard in years… Mexico says it will bring suit against the US if we use our own National Guard to help protect our borders. How about we take the name of the military branch doing this… the NATIONAL GUARD, guarding our nations border. How the hell can that be illegal? How the hell does Mexico make a statement defending illegal border crossers in the first place? This is truly becoming a “Mad Mad Mad World”.

If I were a conspiracy nut, I could think about this whole thing like this… Mexico has no army, but would love to invade the US and take over our lands… So they send in vast waves of illegal aliens to stir up trouble… After enough trouble is enticed, well they sue us for all we have and we’ll have to just give them the country… Absurd I know… But damn, that sure feels like what is happening.

All I can say it that it just burns me every time I see someone waving a flag for another country in protest of this country. Hey, I understand pride in regards to sports and home cooking, wave you banners there all you want, but in protest of this country… get out of my site you miserable piece of filth.

If you don’t like this country, find the door and GO HOME.

New and Improved

Wow, it can’t believe it, I finally have a new computer that will allow me to type and I do not have to worry about checking every letter to see if it was entered! That’s right… I got a new computer, and it is about time.

I know, that may not be such a big deal to you all, but for me, it is. Not to knock my last computer, it lasted and hung in there for three and a half grueling years, but it was about time and dying fast. The keys were sticky and the letters worn off, the mouse pad was just about worn through, and the screen was fading by the day.

So, for the first time in a long time my words flow was quickly on the keys as through my head. I mean I am a fairly fast typist, about 60 to 70 word a minute, but only if the letters are all there as I type them. And now they are.

So, you may ask what I got… well after a but of research, it is a Toshiba Satellite A105, 1 gig RAM, 120 Gig HD, Centrino Duo Core processor, 15.5in screen, full size keyboard, the works and all very nice. It is a bit bigger than my last computer, but it should be a workhorse for the next few years.

The hardest part of getting a new computer is not working with it, it is getting everything on it that was on the old computer. Getting the data over is tedious, but it is the settings that really take forever to reset. You never really know how customized your computer is until you try to move to a new rig. I guess I will have to just keep working with it and everything will eventually work out.

But at least now I do not have to worry about moving everything before the old old crashed for the last time.

Immigration Irritation

What can I say about this that most other conservative pundits have not already pounded into the American consciousness? Not much but to give my opinion in my own words.

When a person enters into this country illegally they have committed a crime and in my opinion that is a very poor way of starting a relationship a new country. It is a predicate misdemeanor that sets the status of the violator as illegal and they know it. Then with every day that passes, with every service they consume and not pay taxes, they worsen the crime and take it out on all those how live in the country by right and by legal adoption.

The specious argument that these people pay taxes but do not see any return is not justifiable in a system that does not tax them in the first place. They do not get paid by check and taxes removed by employers willing to overlook their status, they get paid in cash. And if they are having taxes taken out, it nev3er makes it to the Fed because to submit such tax submission would be an admission that they (the rogue employer) is hiring illegal immigrants against statute.

But if you are saying that these illegal migrants are paying taxes in the form of consumption sales taxes, who are you kidding? Sales taxes are not paying for the social services that illegal immigrants are using. They are leaching off the healthy society they have entered, weakening the society they so long to be a part of.

Now I have heard the argument that if they wanted to enter legally they would be refused because they may not have the education that the immigration services are looking for. Well, if that is the case then we should be ashamed, but I do not think that things are that bad. They (the would be illegal immigrants) should apply to enter the country legally instead of breaking the law as their first act of would be citizenship.

This all be stated, I do think that we should move the crime of illegally entering this country from a misdemeanor to a felony. I do believe we should build a strong wall to prevent more border hoppers from crossing. I do believe that a person with a criminal record should NOT be allowed to become a citizen. I do believe that employers hiring illegal aliens should be heavily fined.

When a person is caught crossing the border, I do not think that simply shipping them back is a satisfactory action. I think that some jail time for the felony is called for. I think that these felons should be put to work maybe creating better roads or a stronger wall to keep out other border crossers. I do not think they should get paid, they are here illegally and do not have the same rights as Americans. (If you pay them, it may actually be worth some of their wiles to actually get caught, sounds crazy, no?) Repeat offenders need much sterner treatment.

OK, on the legal side, if someone wants in, they should apply legally. They should learn English and pay their taxes. They should realize they are at the end of the line behind Americans, but if they are legally entered, so be and good luck on your road to citizenship. I see no problem when people enter this country legally. After all, all of us have ancestors that entered this country at some point in time, most legally, and it is what makes the country strong.

On the issue of “born in America”: I do not think that children of illegal aliens born in this country should be considered Americans. I think this loophole needs to be closed and closed fast. If it is, it will slow the number of illegal aliens entering the country.

Social Services: Privileges such as a Drivers License and State ID should not be issued to illegal aliens. If an illegal alien attempts to obtain these credentials, they should be arrested for being in the country and attempted fraud. This is intolerable. Same applies for ALL social services, health, schooling etc…

We need to have a bit more spine than we have had in the last 50 year, otherwise the cost for our social services will bring down the economy as surely as it is draining California’s economy.

Hoe, Hoe, Hoe, Hell No?

imageI am sick and tired of what I think is a specious argument by the “Movement to Legalize Illegal Aliens”. The main argument they give is that “Migrant Workers” do the jobs that average American will not do. You know what, that is such bull that it sickens me.

The implication is that Americans are so lazy that we would not be willing to do the work that a Mexican, here illegally, will do. Are we as Americans that lazy? I do not think so. I think that if all the illegals went away, the jobs would still be done but maybe at a higher wage. This would cause a mild inflation, but I could live with that.

Of course we all know what “they” are talking about. They think that American would not flock to the field to pick crops. I think that is wrong. I think that there are a lot of people that would if the wage were fair and the conditions right. I think that we as Americans have done it before, we can do it again, and to hell with the “migrant illegal workers”. Tell you what, if the food flow slowed down, you can bet there would be people out in the fields.

Here is another fun one… your gardener. Usually these lawn services are a group of illegal aliens with really no experience taking care of your lawn and grounds. What would happen if they went away? Well, when I was growing up I used to do the lawns of about 8 of my neighbors. I had my own mower, edger, and even blower. I would tend the lawns of all these neighbors in one afternoon, and when I was done I had a ton of cash for having fun. Not only that, it helped me stay in shape, I was not sitting on my fat ass playing Atari. Maybe some of our youth could benefit from such a situation.

How about the nanny situation. If all the migrants went away I guess that we would all have to look after our own children. I guess that parents would have to take more responsibility for their children and pay more attention to them. Hmm… would that be such a bad thing?

So many jobs, so many situations, and with the vacuum of illegal aliens the voids would work themselves out one way or another and this country would run and thrive, maybe better than before, maybe more efficiently, and maybe with more pride.

Let’s face it, this country has to run, and while it would be a hard transition while all the illegal aliens just went away, the country would run, and the jobs would get done. Americans have done it before, we can do it again. We are not dependant on illegal immigrants to do things. It is the height of absurdity to think otherwise.

National Anthem

I had to take a few days to write about these subjects because when I got going, I was really pissed and that would not have helped the writing at all.

On the subject of the “Star Spangled Banner” sung in Spanish, here is how I feel about that…

Like flag burning, we should celebrate the fact that someone has the freedom to in fact burn the flag, we should be tolerant of the fact that the National Anthem can be sung in Spanish. So that being said, I do not have a problem with the idea of translation of the National Anthem to Spanish, but I do have a problem with the “new” translation.

If you want to translate the National Anthem to Spanish, French, Russian, German, Swahili, whatever, I do not have a problem with that as long as the translation of the piece is accurate in all respects, or at least so close in intent, that the translation back would be the same as the original.  But if you translate and CHANGE the words and the meaning, now I have an issue with you and your despicable intent.

By changing the words and that meaning of the National Anthem, you are now using the piece as a point of rhetoric and political self-service. It is like graffiti on the Jefferson Monument, or pissing on the White House Lawn. Why would you want to deface something that is part-and-parcel of what represents you as an American? It is obscene and not to be tolerated.

In the case of the recent “translation” (and that is very loose) the meaning has been changed to reflect that American should be supportive of ILLEGAL IMMEGRANTS because they are hard working. Sorry, I am not buying it and in fact am furious that they would take the National Anthem and pervert it so self-servingly. What, did they think us stupid Gringo’s would not know what is happening or what they are saying? Did they think that we would just smile and say, “Oh, that’s nice…”?

As a natural American I am insulted at their arrogance. If you want to sing the “Star Spangled Banner” in Spanish, be my guest, but sing it with the meaning and intent that is there, do not change it just because you do not like the reference to bombs and rockets, or that you feel it is not kind enough to your political agenda.

If you want a theme song for you political movement, write one and get it published and heard, but do not take a piece of American Iconography and deface it for your purposes.

Mind you, this is not a flag burning, where the burning is a symbol of frustration with the system. In a way, flag burning is a straightforward act of expression and there is no issue of deception. Changing words of the National Anthem is like trying to slip a fast one by, and that is really insulting. You’re lying with a smile on your face and it just ticks me off because the lie is obvious.
