Katie, I was talking about the "get to know you" chats that people engage in, and that it can be used with not so altruistic results. Unlike sitting over coffee and chatting, there is no interaction that face to face conversations can provide.

As for using chat for work and for chatting with friends, yeah, I do it all the time, more with some than with other, and so on.

As for the not being online, to tell you the truthm is there really any reason. This site is dead, and the people I made it for have abondoned it. All that hard work, all that time, and when it is inconvienient, people abandon it. There was not a single comment for two and a half weeks, dispite the fact that there were new posts. People post, but they could care less about what other have to say, and never comment. I try to comment where and when I can, I plan on doing that today (I'm off from work and not driving all over the southern US) but at least I read and comment.

As for the keeping in touch, dear, it goes both ways. If you cared at all you would drop a line from time to time too. I IM you and you then never respond, even when you are not set to away. I have stopped trying to contact you. Soory, but you noting I am not online only counts for that, you have not tried to IM me either.
