Realizations

It has been a year of changes for me; changes in living arrangements, changes in lifestyle, and changes in relationships.

The living arrangements and lifestyle issues were easy for me to handle, time smoothed the road when the changes were needed and I adapted where I had to. But the changes in relationships has been the hardest.

I have previously said that I put my heart on my sleeve in relationship, but then I understood that change was needed or even wanted. I put on a chevalier face on it and moved along with life as though it was all expected. I wanted to be strong, but you know what, it hurt.

What caught me off guard a few days ago was how much it did hurt. When break ups of relationships happen, there are shards of emotions that remain. I found that a recent seeming break up exposed all those pains and others from the past. I was thrown into a depression for a day to work it all out.

When all was said in done, I found that I do care for people way more than maybe I should. When break ups occur (and they do) I am left to bury my feelings and move along as well. These feeling hurt terribly and to be honest I do not know what to do about them.

I know I should honor my own advice and keep putting myself out there even though these severed ties hurt greatly, but it is hard to justify now that I have had this realization.

My first reaction to all this was to sever all ties from all my new friends and relations. I wanted to bury myself away, not deal with it and start fresh. I wanted to do like every other person does and push it all away, denying that anything ever happened. Well, I can’t because it all did happen.

So, I sit here and lick my wounds and hope they heal right and continue what I was doing before, but maybe I take it slower.

In the end we may all be looking for the same thing; it is just that it is so hard to put our visions into words oh so often. We all need to take our paths and hope that they keep crossing often until we finally realize what it is that we truly want -- hopefully, we don't expend all of our days in the search of the Grail, rather than enjoying the pleasures of the Grail throughout our lives. smile Tough choices... tough paths... tough lives.

HUGSSSSS.....

Look, if there is a perfect woman out there for me, I may never find her, it is a rather big world. However, this does not mean I cannot love and enjoy along the way, and I may even settle for a very close second knowing that I may never find the perfect fit. This is not giving in to the inevitable, it is living and understanding that I am indulging in the most happiness I can attain. Nothing wrong there... right?

I would like to think that we will all be able to find our absolutely perfect mate; knowing that people are not infallable and few are absolutely perfect, we may have to settle for "second best" in the end. However, happiness can be indulged along the way for the path of the Grail until we do; however, seemingly meaningless happiness it might be (not the long term happiness kind). Perhaps, there are other lessons yet to be learned along the way. I have some interesting paths that I am exploring in the meantime...before I settle down with whoever is the person who is the Grail I am seeking for. Nothing wrong with that.

You know what... I think if I ever did find the "perfect mate" I would not even know it. How could there be a perfect person for me. There would have to be a thorn or two that I did not expect. And if there were not, could it be too good? I mean it would be a real Stepford Wives thing if that were the case. Not sure I could handle it.
