Takin' It Slow

I was looking over my blogs and realized that it has been about three months since I talked about my love life at all except to say that one relationship passed and how I was terribly emotional over it. I was, but time moves on and with it come new people and new situations.

For the first time in a very long time I have met someone that I can connect with in many ways and not just sexually. We spend long hours talking about everything from art and music to spirituality. Does this mean that I no longer miss my former lover, not at all, but this new woman in my life is special in many ways. For me I know there could really be something there, so I am taking a new tact with this relationship, I am taking it very slow.

So, why this new slower approach? Simple, I am tired of giving up my emotions all at once and getting my heart ripped out when it really does not work out. Maybe by taking things slow, we can both grow more naturally together and not burn the relationship out before it really gets a good start.

Also, maybe there was another reason why I have not blogged about it before this. Maybe I was revealing too much of my feelings in the blogs and my lovers would read this and be intimidated by what I was feeling. Maybe some privacy is needed, that somethings must stay between two people. Maybe blogging about everything is not such a good thing, at least in the beginning for a new relationship.

Time is a teacher, and it is teaching me some harsh lessons I think. Lessons like privacy, honesty, sincerity, and understanding. It is also teaching me to love and be loved. To accept love as well as give it. To love fully, never in half measures. To never hide love from those you do love, but to keep things private within yourselves when needed. I am still learning still growing, still loving, and hopefully will be for the rest of my life.

59th Street Bridge Song
By Simon and Garfunkel

Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy
Ba da da da da da da, feeling groovy

Hello lamppost, what’cha knowing
I’ve come to watch your flowers growin’
Ain’t cha got no rhymes for me?
Doo-it in doo doo, feeling groovy
Ba da da da da da da, feeling groovy
Life I love you, all is groovy.

I got no deeds to do
No promises to keep
I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me
Life I love you, all is groovy.
